After Wilt Chamberlain and Bill Russell the question was who’s next? In the latter half of 1980s it became clear that Michael Jordan had the right mind and skill to be the next mega-star of basketball. He provided more than forty points in more consecutive games and in most games within a season compared to his contemporary players. The former NBA superstar transcended race, age, class and gender. His appeal has been visceral.

But it is as a basketball player that Jordan has shown how successful people think, act and react. Basketball is a fast-paced game with little room for error. Jordan was a great slam dunker because he read the game so well. Intuitively, he knew the trajectory of the ball a fraction of a second before the other 9 men on the court and could craft a creative move in an instant. However, this was possible only because he rehearsed his game intensely before the actual game – with even more intensity than the unfolding of reality.
